all I could see was sunshine and brilliance
but your smile was a soft as a feather

my arms still remember the last time you held me
the first - and last - time you allowed it
and it was too much and not enough all at once

your words were warm enough to melt ice
and my eyes leaked tears at the heat
heart burned in the need for more
